Banasura Hill Resort offers three types of eco rooms; the Earth Rooms, Twin Villas, Private Suites and a Log Hut. All rooms offer an array of amenities to make our guest's stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible, such as, full and king sized beds, soothing lighting and ceiling fans, large private tiled bathrooms with fresh water and hot showers. Additionally, all rooms have coffee and tea making facilities, and bottled mineral water.

The rooms in the main building are called Earth Rooms because of the rammed earth architecture used in their construction. These rooms have an area of close to 400 square feet, and have king-sized beds, large wooden wardrobes and luggage racks, cozy rattan chairs and attached toilets equipped with fittings of international quality. Large windows offer magnificent views of the surrounding landscape.

The Log Hut stands directly above the natural pond which is filled with water lilies and lotuses. With walls made out of dark, coarse-grained polished wood, the interior has a soothing effect. The Log Hut is opulently furnished with a king-sized bed, a divan cot, coffee table, dressing table and a luxurious toilet. The open verandah directly overlooks the pond.

The secluded Deluxe Suites which are built using rough hewn laterite stone offer spacious accommodation in the form of suites, each equipped with a king-sized bed, reclining chairs, a coffee table, a dressing table, large luggage rack, big mirrored wardrobe and very spacious toilets. Each has a wide verandah that overlooks the pond.

The Twin Villas have been conceptualized keeping in mind Guests who wish to travel as a group or as extended families. Each independent Twin Villa has two separate rooms with attached baths, but share a common verandah overlooking the natural pond, with comfortable cane chairs laid out for you to relax with family / friends. The villas can be booked as a whole or as individual rooms. The rate mentioned is for individual rooms.

Stunning Earth Structures of the World

The Djenne Mosque in Mali is the world's largest mud structure. It was built in 1907, and is today a proud UNESCO World Heritage site. The prayer hall of the mosque measures 26 by 50 meters (85 ft x 165 ft), and is large enough to accommodate 3000 people. The mud covered wooden roof is supported by ninety massive rectangular pillars. The walls vary in thickness between sixteen and twenty-four inches.

Chogha Zanbil was a palace and temple complex of the ancient Elamite city of Dur Untashi in Khuzestan province of Iran. Its construction was started by king Untash-Napirisha in 1250 BC. At the center of the complex is a great ziggurat dedicated to the bull-god Insusinak. It is the best preserved example of such structures in the world today. In 1979 Chogha Zanbil became the first Iranian site to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The base of the ziggurat is 344 feet long on each side. The structure has a total height of 80 feet. Its ornate facade was once covered in glazed blue and green terra-cotta, and its interior was decorated in glass and ivory mosaics.

Shibam is an ancient town in Yemen that was built in the 2nd century AD. What is distinctive about Shibam is the fact that its houses are all made out of mud bricks, and about 500 of them are tower houses that rise 5 to 16 stories high, with each floor having one or two apartments.
